Lamego is a charming town surrounded by history, monuments and sublime cuisine. A breakfast routine with Zilda involves selecting the days events, and we found her predictions to be spot on. Plus practical advice about itineraries with hints on where to park a car for free! And while talking about breakfast, Zilda prepares a feast full of variety and tasty temptations. But her homemade orange marmalade is sensational. An ancient architectural gem has been beautifully remodelled to contemporary standards and style, this wonderful place is centrally located and easy to access by road and foot.

Don't read any more. Look elsewhere! I had the most miserable time ever and I have visited 8 countries staying in literally dozens of B&bs in the last year to compare. There was no welcome into this converted terrace & the sleeping area was bizarre and vastly overpriced at £80 per person. For £80 the customer should get the best. The room was not prepared. A blocked sink, freezing cold and no heating in the showroom. Unless you count the hairdryer which had to be used it was so cold. The alterations were the worst you could imagine and totally out of keeping with the old building with cheap plastic cladding used as dividers. There was absolutely no heating in the public areas so freezing cold everywhere. No heating in the breakfast room even the woman there wore her outdoor clothes as I did being 6 layers and head covering it was so bitter. The owners simply do not care about their guests. Breakfast was in a word. Miserable. Hard cold toast. No cerals, no fruit, no cake, no rolls. no thought how to please their guests. A bizarre place. They kept saying I was the only person cold but NO other guests were ever seen in 3 days! Stange place The worst place and most depressing I have ever stayed in, not even a Happy Christmas!.

The property itself is beautiful, with lots of rich wood and brick. The first floor room is very spacious. Rooftop breakfast area is charming with a fantastic view of the town. However, note that with a very small sign out front it’s a small challenge to find. It consists of 5 floors of stairs only, so lifting will be required. Street noises do filter through the windows and sounds from other rooms as well. When we arrived, the entrance door was locked, lights were off, and no one was present to greet us or let us in. We had to call the phone number associated with the place in order to get in. There were no notes attached to the door indicating check in procedures, which I found lacking in service. The breakfast was adequate. The owner Zilda is charming and very nice.

The accommodation was perfect and very modern. The dinner at the rooftop was exquisite and unforgettable and the host provided a unique and intimate atmosphere. The hotel was in the center of Lamego and perfect for exploring this beautiful city.

This was an exceptional stay. Behind an unobtrusive door lies a building which has been beautifully renovated to blend old and new. Everything is spotlessly clean and comfortable. Above all is the hospitality from Zilda and Ricardo. We loved our evening meal and continued to be well looked after at breakfast.

This is a really lovely small hotel. It is situated half way down R. de Almacave. The hotel sign is not obvious and there is only a small door to enter but don’t worry or be fooled by this first impression.
As you enter and walk up the wide main staircase the investment in refurbishment is clear to see. It is both tasteful and beautiful.
The hotel is located over around 5 floors with a magnificent glass dinning room on the roof terrace.
The place is spotlessly clean.
The owner Zilda could not have been more friendly, helpful and hospitable.
Would definitely say there again.

We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed our stay very much. It's a small hotel, rooms/bathrooms were very clean and spacious. Breakfast was excellent and the roof top breakfast area wonderful.
I had requested a twin room with two twin beds but we were given a double bed which was very uncomfortable for us. If I had known the twin beds were not available I would not have stayed here. Two nights with very little sleep did not make us happy people.
