We booked a family room with breakfast for me and my son. When we arrived, we were given our room key and made our way up the stairs (there was no lifts) and all the way to other end of the hotel (a five minute walk) only to discover that our room was not ready and the second bed not made up. We traipsed back to reception, where the team member looked into alternative rooms for us. The staff member was friendly, apologetic and polite but the facilities and infrastructure were just shocking. Eventually after a 20 minute wait, he found us a room but it was in another building across the car park. We were given the key and pointed in the direction of the other block. When we got there, we saw the door was wedged open with a sand bag, with no safety key card lock in operation. I was concerned and removed the sand bag door wedge to try and close the door, but it was evident it had been put there because the door was broken. (see photographs). This broken door was a fundamental health and safety issue. Lets just say that you would not leave your front door open in Aldershot, anyone could enter the building without a key and without being a guest plus the open door let in the cold. We made our way to our room which was absolutely freezing cold and not particularly clean either. We were so tired at this point we didn't bother walking back to reception and went straight to bed in jumpers. The next morning I had a shower and discovered the hairdryer was broken, we then made our way to breakfast, the restaurant is being renovated so there was no hot buffet, just a menu service. We ordered 2x English breakfasts, which took almost an hour to arrive. There was only 4x tables of people in the place, I could have made it myself quicker, it was just an awful experience that I never want to repeat.
