The Brudenell

I really like this small, friendly, non-chain hotel. Of course it’s helped by its unmatched location, on the fringes of lovely Aldeburgh and overlooking the sea from many rooms and the open plan lounge. This was a return visit and the staff gave us exactly the rooms we requested, very important for my mum who needs an adapted room. My room was a decent size, with large and extremely comfortable bed, smart TV, tea and coffee, lovely sea view. We had a great evening meal in the restaurant. Breakfast was excellent, cooked to order with good quality ingredients. It’s better to include this in your room rate as the individual price is quite high. There is a small number of car park spaces and on road parking. You can walk along the traffic-free promenade to the town centre in 10 minutes. Everyone from the receptionist to the red haired waiter at dinner could not have made us more welcome. I’ll be back!

My wife & I have visited Aldeburgh many times, we normally stay in Thorpeness but from time to time we have walked into Aldeburgh & taken coffee at the hotel. The hotel is situated at one end of a long promenade & is easily accessible to the town. We decided to have a winter stay & booked an inland view room - to be honest primarily because of the prices. On arrival we were somewhat lucky to find a parking spot in the very small under cover car park. The website does warn about this & there are a few places in an outside car park otherwise its down to you to find a spot on the road around & about. The reception is welcoming & first appearance is of a nicely presented, nicely maintained small hotel. We were quickly checked in & handed our room key. The room, whilst small was nicely decorated & well maintained. It had a large window that you could actually open with a clear inland view over the roof tops to open countryside. Rather then take it in the room, we decided to have a cup of tea in the lounge & this was nicely served by friendly staff in the small lounge area - chargeable of course. There was a special dinner in the restaurant & we had previously decided to eat at a local restaurant. However, we thought we would have a drink in the bar before going out. A friendly waiter told us where we could sit & brought the drinks - its a pity that we were not offered a few nuts or crisps to accompany quite an expensive couple of drinks. We were warned about crowding at breakfast but we didn't experience this. We were shown to a window seat over looking the rolling, grey sea. There was plenty of cereals, juice & fruit on the buffet & a waitress took our order for the 'Suffolk Breakfast'. This was nicely served but the sausages & bacon were not freshly grilled & were bit dry. Otherwise a nice breakfast. Just a one night stay & overall very enjoyable, we will probably do it again

Thank you again for another fab stay! Nothing was too much trouble (including finding us a stand-alone heater for the sitting room) and the food was amazing as usual. Welcome card and chocolates was another lovely touch as we were celebrating an anniversary

My husband took me (as a surprise) to Aldeburgh for my birthday and we stayed at the Brudenell. It was a wonderful stay - nothing at all to complain about, which is so unusual these days! Lovely, very friendly and helpful staff (you could tell they all cared - also unusual these days), delicious dinner in the restaurant, beautiful views of the sea over breakfast the following morning and a warm, comfy and beautifully decorated room. I would highly recommend (and have to several people). We will be back.

My husband and I enjoyed our lunch on a Saturday. Peaceful with a lovely sea view. All the staff members were polite and friendly, Ebony serving us was a pleasant, friendly young lady. The food was presented nicely and was flavoursome. One of our favourite restaurants to dine when visiting Aldeburgh.

The hotel experience for me was appalling. We were not staying with you however walked past and saw a sign advertising that you were open for all day breakfast. When we entered, we were greeted by a female manager who informed us that the hotel were not serving breakfast and residence today, there was no explanation as to why even when I challenged the advertising from the sandwich board outside. As a family for we were left with no alternative, but to find alternative places to eat. Based on your menu prices this is approximately £100 of loss revenue for yourselves which equates to one of your staff for an entire shift. This approaches customer centric Around any desire to be a profitable business. It’s a pity as the interior of the hotel appears lovely, but we will not be trying here again as I have no trust in you actually delivering the service offered on your menu
