Eftalia down Town

This hotel is a basic hotel here are my views on the hotel; PROS •Basic room but clean, cleaners did a good job, especially in 30+ degree heat . Bathroom not immaculate but clean all the same. Clean towels always given. •We were given a room with a great sea view, really lovely view •Nice cool lobby to cool off •Clean pool although quite small CONS •The BIGGEST let down of our stay is the fact it took 3 nights out of our 7 nights to get our air con repaired and working in our room. It was 30*degrees and as you can image we did not sleep the first 3 nights so spent most the holiday really tired!! I have asthma so I really struggled and I have come home with a horrendous cough. This should have been checked before our arrival?? •On arrival there was only 1 pillow for 2 people. •Weird breakfast choices, cooked carrots, salad, cooked aubergines for breakfast!. No bacon, beans, hash browns etc so if you are from the UK you may struggle with this. Although there was toast, cereal, not what I want though for paying for bed and breakfast. •We were expected to pay for the fridge, we did not. In hot temperatures you'd think keeping your drinks cool would be a standard hotel room facility. •No Wi-Fi in the rooms. Just in the lobby. •Weak overpriced cocktails, around £10 for basically a slush puppy! •Very noisy by the road, cars and traffic still in the early hours 3am/4am •Small pool and sun loungers all gone by 5am!!! People saving loungers with towels this early. On reflection I would not stay at this hotel again unfortunately.

I read a lot of bad reviews before I travelled that could have scared me. But we don’t expect happy, we take happy to people. So I did, and it made my experience a 5 star. First, you have to be aware of that you are visiting a different culture and you have to respect that. The norm for us is different in each countries. I knew there wouldn’t be wifi only in the lobby, but it was a great air-conditioned lobby and was nice to catch up with emails in between activities. Less screen time might be good on a holiday anyway. This is a very simple, basic but lovely hotel. I didn’t experience personally any rudeness, in fact, lovely smiley faces and I really wanted to hug the staff when I left including the cleaners, chefs, waiters, everyone. If one was rude, sadly that was the drunk guests who can’t behave, regardless of nationality. The hotel employees are hard worker, kind and patient. I have never had a spa before so where else I would try. The Hamman in the hotel is a wonderful experience. Clean, hygienic, the ladies are lovely, friendly and professional. I turned my package holiday into a retreat and I ended up taking a massage every day. Look for Melanie. I couldn’t be more grateful for meeting her. I was on half board, I did not have to pay for the coffee and juice in the mornings. Simple breakfast in the mornings, eggs, cereals, cold cuts with veggies and salads. But I do have to pay for the dinner drinks which once I accidentally forgot. (Sorry!!!) The rooms are clean and comfy, I rented safe and fridge but in a hindsight, I would trust this staff anytime. There are local groceries (Migros, A-101) around and small convenience shops for water and also pharmacies next door. The beach is a little dirtier than I am used to in the UK and the US. Mind your steps as the water is rocky and uneven right in front of the hotel, I went to the left a little and found some nice even sand underneath. Met some amazing locals in the bazaar, marina, good friendly people all around, treat them as such and they will do everything for you. 🙂

We’ve had a lovely nearly 3 week stay at Eftalia Downtown hotel with my mum and a little girl. On arrival we were put in a wrong wrong just a standard room when we’ve paid for a family, however in the morning an older gentleman at reception working with a young porter offered us a nice room with a great view to the beach and castle, which we thoroughly enjoyed throughout our stay and are very grateful for it, thank you. There are couple of things we didn’t such as all your drinks including even water will be charged at extra cost so during the 3 week stay it all adds up plus your meals during the day of course, which are considerably expensive in comparison to what it used to be like so recession hit Turkey just as it did the rest of the world…be aware of that and be realistic to what the average day with a family will cost you times how long you are staying for…on the other hand if you can be creative & minimalistic you can save a little dosh. Our stay was very pleasant as all we wanted & needed really is a pure heat and pool splashing for our girl as well as beach literally across the road, which was super convenient and we went there every day. One thing disappointing is that local head of Antalya(Alanya) does not clean its streets very well and you can see a lot of rubbish on the beach. Also be aware that entrance to the water can be tricky and you need to know where to enter unless you want a cut on your foot…simply look out for bigger gatherings of people in the water & that’s your indication pretty much where to enter, also water shoes could be helpful…the water is super salty so a pair of goggles is a must. The lounges on the beach will cost you 2 euros each and token must be purchased at reception otherwise it’s 3 euros. The guys at the beach bar are very pleasant & you can easily have a nice drink and a bite at the bar or they can bring it to you on the beach, lovely service. In general stuff was very good and attentive but the boys working at breakfast & dinner were absolutely excellent. They were always super friendly & nothing was too much of an ask for them. They treated us with a lot of respect to the point of helping my mum to carry her drinks to the table and entertaining our little girl as a real princess, so massive thank you goes to Eyup, Esup, Ali, Volcan 🙏💞 Cleaning was ok 👍🏻 I don’t think it matters if you tip or not…we would always leave a euro or 2 in the room but it did not seem to matter as our room was cleaned on arrival properly but after that just a standard bed, towel & bin change, which was done religiously daily. The key to the room is also your fridge so when you are out sorry your drinks will be getting warm again and conditioning will switch off automatically too. Entertainment was great and plenty for us and we could even observe it from our room’s balcony if we did not fancy to be downstairs for it, Turkish night on Fridays is great! This is a reasonable Hotel, clean tidy comfortable, the food is fair, always something you can eat, a very good selection, bedrooms are standard, but there are some very dodgey practices when it comes to paying for goods and services. On checking in we purchased a fridge and safe, but could only pay cash?? I bought beach tickets pay only by cash?? The first few drinks at the bar were also cash only, but when I insisted I only had a card, the card machined turned up and my bill was recalculated and was reduced by 300 tl ?? The most disturbing thing was the waiting staff, though very friendly, they took too much interest in the young teenage girls, in fact my Grandaughter was for ever pestered with telephone numbers and invites to the beach. The management needs to look at the behaviour of certain staff members. Also the swimming pool is to small, 3 of our party went down with stomach bugs after spending a day around the pool. The beach bar though is excellent, good decent staff and great lunches with reasonable drink prices.

We had a less than satisfactory stay at this hotel. Our room was smelly and coffee or tea making facilities. Telephone in our room didn't work at all. Cleaner very nice, kind and helpful. As far as the food goes they don't serve genuine Turkish food and wholly unimaginative. Same menu every day. The hotel has a very small pool for three buildings, which is always crowded and impossible to get into. Receptionist very rude and not help full. Reception staff mostly don't speak English. On the day of check out the reception staff was rude and unhelpful. On the check out day we were waiting around 3 hours at the lobby for our transport and the A/C was working and suddenly it didn't work and we informed it to the reception. Then the receptionist claimed as the A/C hasn't been working from 10 days and we were lying. My husband and the receptionist had an argument and that person doesn't know to be polite to customers. DON'T GO TO THIS HOTEL IF YOU WANT A PLESANT EXPERIENCE ON YOUR HOLIDAY !!!!

While this holiday was booked a year in advance and quite good value we thought. The rooms are vey basic. Bed bathrooms with shower and small closet. That’s about all you get. Same is €1 euro a day fridge €2 euro a day. No tea or coffee making facilities. The food on offer is very basic and aimed towards the continental and Russian visitors tastes The soundproofing on the rooms is little to none as the evening entertainment could be heard just as loud in the room with the door closed as on the balcony itself. As is in Turkey there are plenty of feral cats about as we found one had left a deposit outside our room door which was promptly reported to reception on our way out to tea. Only to be still there 2 hours later on our return. This time a photo was shown as proof to the receptionist who proceeded to laugh along with his colleague much to my Annoyance but was removed within 20 mins There are a few upsides the hotel is right over the road from the beach And there are a few good restaurants nearby. We can recommend Casper’s a few mins walk left out of the hotel and the Bones steak house 3 doors to the right All in all we would not recommend the hotel and will not be coming back

Very bad stay. We had a less than satisfactory stay at this hotel. On the day of check in the reception staff was rude and unhelpful. Our room was smelly and not as advertised. We had to wait till next day to change the room. Always ask for and get a sea view room. The rooms Don't have WiFi or coffee or tea making facilities. Reception staff mostly don't speak English. Telephones in our 3 rooms didn't work at all. Room fridge has to be paid 1 euro per day. As far as the food goes they don't serve genuine Turkish food and wholly unimaginative. Same menu every day. It's not worth it to eat dinner unless you want to go for buffet option. However please see my other reviews. We understand this is not a Five star Hotel. Air conditioning in our 3 rooms were not working properly and either the unit was not working properly or remotes were not working properly. In one of the rooms shower door was broken and in another shower was temperamental. The shower was blocked in one room. Pastries in the morning were almost stale and uncovered therefore flies can land on them.

Room is ok. Cleaner very nice, we don't like people entering our room. She gave us more towels and pillows and took our rubbish. The food is plentiful but the same everyday. Food is ok if you like salads and not much in way of meat. Chips and kebab chicken was done outside. Breakfast - don't expect full English at best its hard boiled egg, cold beans and toast. Drinks - outrageous prices. Got 2 cocktails , cost 30 Euro!

Where do I start- 3 hours transfer from airport Receptionist very rude and not helpfull One plug in the room You have to pay to use the fridge Pool to small and was never cleaned and checked Dailey very cloudy we know as we watched them sweep the dirt into the pool as we had a pool view room. Food was awful breakfast and dinner You have to pay for your drinks at dinner time thought it was half board My husband got food poisoning Then I got ill with the sickness and diorrea so 4 days out of ten ruined. Lucky daughter didn’t get it but ruined her holiday aswell. Everyone we spoke to had got ill Lost a lot on money on trips never got money back. Very dirty and unhygienic hotel. Cats all over the tables. No one around to help you at all. The beach our feet got cut up because of the rocks no signs to say about them. Will never ever come back here again!!! Has put us off going to turkey ever again!! AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!! Dirty smelly awfull hotel!!!!
