Hill Palace Hotel

The hotel has a wonderful view over the plain on which Accra sits. The male staff are friendly. Sadly, the corridors are dimly lit and the rooms too. The bedside lights didn't even have globes in them. The aircon, even on sleep mode, was a noisy companion that didn't help me to fall asleep. The overall impression is of a dingy room which needs more air. The food (breakfast) was cold. Every morning I had to ask for cutlery, a cup and some hot water as the lady working in the restaurant seemed intent on ignoring the basic requirements of the patrons. The Internet worked a bit on one day, a bit more on another day and then gave up. All this said, the room rates are very reasonable, so you get what you pay for, I suppose.

what a shame, what a pity... a breathtaking view on the plain of Accra, a breeze that comes to relieve you from the heat and the humidity of the city, large green spaces, but.. Almost everything else makes the experience disastrous! Absent management and a staff that doesn't know what to do and is lazy. Lighting in the rooms, conference rooms and restaurants is so dim that you can't see a thing and it makes you . Food is exclusively local and repeated every day. Not a single fresh fruit or fruit juice offered while pineapples, papayas, and mangos abound on the market. Bar fridges desperately empty. Ridiculous working schedules for an hotel surviving from business seminars and conferences (breakfast never ready before 7:30 a.m. restaurant and bar closing at 20:30). Empty swimming pool, discarded thread mills thrown in a corner of the lawn...
