Iberostar Selection Diar El Andalous

Came here for my birthday and for a bit of winter sun - I only booked 4 nights as although the reviews were enough to sell me on the hotel, I'd heard all inclusive can be a bit lacking in entertainment and food...but I was blown away by how good it was, and I regret not booking for longer! ight from the start Aziz and the staff made sure to take care of myself and my partner, taking our passports and processing our check in while we enjoyed the lobby and had some fresh orange juice. The staff had heard about my birthday and even offered me an upgrade as a treat, giving me a sea view room with a romantic gesture with a towel folded into a love heart and rose petals on the bed. The staff throughout the hotel made a real effort to show warm Tunisian hospitality, and were happy to cater to any request. The room itself was wonderful, with a firm bed and soft pillows, and a balcony allowing us to enjoy the view (and for my partner to have a smoke in the mornings). Although the air-con is turned off in winter due to the lower temperatures, we kept the patio door open at night to allow the cool air to come in, which worked fine for us. The buffet was varied with plenty of options for all types of traveller. The hotel itself is popular with French, German, English and other tourists from the Arab World, so you'll be able to find something to your taste. In addition, I enjoyed the section with Tunisian food, and it wasn't too spicy but gave me a distinct taste of the local cuisine. You can also book a meal in the theme restaurant once a week during your stay. I booked mine for my birthday, and whilst the food isn't Michelin star, its still pretty good, and the staff managed to surprise me with the most delicious chiffon layered cake! Even in winter the entertainment is popular and the animation team make sure there are events and activities all day. I enjoyed the evening shows (in particular the Tunisian Evening with music and belly dancers, and the Dance Show where the staff really get to show off). The poolside was a little quieter due to the pools outside being cold, but you can go to the heated pool inside which was popular and great after visiting the sauna. I'd recommend using the Bolt app for taxis, but you can talk to the drivers outside of the hotel and negotiate a decent price. I found 10 dirhams was enough to get to places such as Port El Kantoui or the Mall of Sousse. In addition, if you need to get money, the BH Bank ATM only charges 10 dirhams (about £2) but if you have UK/US/Euros you can change at the desk on Reception. In terms of location, It is well located to get to tourist spots by taxi, but its quiet enough to not be too busy. There are shops nearby within a 10-20 minute walk, but for basics the on-site shop will be fine for most things. There is also a pharmacy nearby for things like painkillers, but I'd recommend getting a taxi. This was the first time I'd been to Tunisia, and the Diar El Andalous gave myself and my partner

I loved my stay from beginning till the end, the staff are great, so attentive to every single detail and will go above and beyond for you. Imed ;the Guest Relations Manager, is a real asset to the hotel, he welcomed us like royalty, always asking about our stay and showing genuine interest in us. The food was divine, various options & specialities, everything made fresh; a lot of show cookings and things cooked right in front of us. The rooms are amazingly clean, modern, made with a great taste and spacious. Hichem the server in the buffet restaurant was absolutely amazing , same thing for Adel and Mohamed at the bar! Can’t wait to return, honestly one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in!

Had an amazing time during my 7 day stay at this quality hotel. From arrival to departure, all staff went out of their way to make sure that my stay was as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Everyone greets you with a warm smile and a friendly attitude. The buffet is well serviced with plenty of selection for even the fussiest of eaters. A special mention must go to Imed, the guest experience manager, as he went out of his way to ensure everything was to the highest standards and was always happy to just have a chat and showed genuine interest in the guest experience with great recommendations for activities and excursions. I would highly recommend the 2 excursions available where you can hire a private car and visit either Carthage and other attractions in Tunis, or to The Jem (coliseum) and Kairouan. If you do I recommend that you request Ameera as your driver. She is a lovely lady with great knowledge of the areas and attractions that you will visit, and she ensures that you have an authentic experience of the amazing Tunisian culture. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for luxury and relaxation

An excellent five star hotel right by the sea with 3 pools, including a heated indoor one. The staff are so friendly and service is excellent. There are so many facilities, a spa, evening entertainment, a gym and a full programme of activities such as archery lessons, gymnastic stretching, boules and even belly dancing lessons. The food is fabulous, freshly cooked, authentic local dishes and a huge variety of choices in the buffet restaurant. There is fine dining in a separate restaurant if you want a more peaceful ambiance. We stayed all inclusive for10 nights and the package was excellent value for money. Our room was modern with all the facilities you expect from a hotel of this class. The only downside was the noise from the extensive refurbishment programme being carried out throughout the wing we stayed in. I recommend this hotel and the location for a winter sun holiday that won’t disappoint.

This was our second visit to this hotel within a year. We arrived at the hotel just after midday, but our rooms were not ready. The hotel has recently changed its check-in and check-out times, which means the earliest you could take up residency is at 3pm, but you must vacate the room by 11 am. Quite frankly, we found this to be quite ridiculous. It was not the best of starts, but the staff tried their best and eventually we were allowed to go to our room on the ground floor at around 1.30pm. However, we had to walk out of the room, as soon as we entered because of the strong odour of urine, which was prevalent throughout. Now, this could have been due to the blocked drainage, but the cleaner on the floor was adamant that that was the smell of the paint. We complained to the reception, and they agreed to investigate this matter. At the same time, we complained to Madame Hayat (the head of housekeeping), and she was genuinely apologetic and assured her that she would find another room for us. She also managed our expectations by saying that this could take some time. In the interim, we had to wait in the lobby, but Madame Hayat came around a couple of times to assure us that our room was being prepared. Eventually, we were given room 274 on the first floor just after 3pm, which was nice and clean. We would like to extend our special thanks to Madame Hayat for being there for us. Our cleaner Ms Nadija was also great and looked after us admirably during our stay. One thing I would however say here that the reception staff remained polite, but they did come across a little aloof at times. The staff in the dining halls are absolute gems and they would go out of their way to please and look after you. You would always get an incredible feeling of warmth whenever you interacted with them, and this extends to the staff that is behind the counters cooking a variety of delicious food for you. We would like to thank Mr Abdelaziz, Mr Hichem and Mr Mousa of the serving staff. Also, special thanks to Mr Habib (omelette maestro) and Mr Safir (pancake and waffle specialist). The hotel offers a great deal of variety when it comes to food. Soups, pizza, fries, fish, beef, breads, turkey, chicken, couscous, deserts and ice creams, were made available on daily basis. In addition, there were selections available for the vegetarians and vegans along with several types of salads. Similarly, during breakfast, there were various food varieties to choose from e.g. boiled and fried eggs, breads, French toasts, waffles, pancakes, honey, yogurts, fruits, milkshakes, cereals, sliced bread etc. So, as far as the food is concerned, you will not be disappointed. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations in selected areas, and to be honest it does need modernisation. When we visited last time, renovations were taking place at that time as well. Our stay at Iberostar has been amazing. The staff here have made our stay extra wonderful. They are all thoughtful, caring and so friendly. We would like to give a special thank you to Laila. We stayed in room 458 and our room was always cleaned thoroughly and she would leave surprises for us to come back to everyday (picture attached).
