It is a nice hotel with beautiful gound and nice swimming pool. it is not too far from the city, but you enjoy peace and quiet. My complaint is about shower. There is no separate shower in our bathroom, just a bath tub. So to wash myself, I had to squat in the tub and use a handheld shower head. Obviously, I do not feel it is a five star experience. Also, since the front door leads directly to the bedroom, there is thick curtains on the door, making in and out of the room a little awkward. Staffs are extremely helpful.

Here are the reasons this hotel got 3 stars because I would have rated it lower otherwise. The location is excellent, the room is beautiful as well as the main hotel area. Now here are the problems that I have encountered: 1) I like having tea in my room so when I arrived to find there wasn't a coffee/tea service in the room I was a bit surprised, no big deal. I approached the front desk and asked to have a kettle and tea cups sent to the room. The staff looked at me like I was asking for something extravigant and said that I can order it through room service. If I want a basic cup of tea I don't want to have to order it through room service and don't make me feel foolish for asking for a kettle. If a guest at a 5 star hotel wants a kettle then just send one. A kitchen staff showed up with two small cups (espresso) but no kettle, then another staff showed up with a pot of tea and tea cups, no kettle. I told him that I did not want tea but a kettle, he told me that I need to get that through the front desk and not the restaurant, no kidding... I did not want the tea and he seemed put out by that. 2) I wanted to swim in the pool so I approached the front desk again because a housekeeping staff told me that the pool might be closed. I told them I wished to go swimming and where could I get a pool towel. I was informed that as soon as I was in the pool staff would come out with towels and take all the covers off of the loungers. The front desk told me they would call staff to make sure the pool side would be handled. I jumped into the pool and watched as guest after guest come out to the pool and started pulling covers off of the loungers, as I did, just to sit down. I swam for about 40 minutes and finally a staff arrived to help take covers off of the loungers but no towels. I walked back to my room dripping wet and a little upset at this string of events. 3) Before I left for the pool housekeeping arrived and asked to come into the room even though I was half dressed but since they seemed rushed I said it was okay, fine. But when I can back just outside of room door I stepped on broken glass (two large pieces of the bottom of a wine glass) that was left on the step. If I hadn't had my shoes on it was have been quite the cut I would have received, I guess they were in a hurry... 4) lastly, I had asked for some bowls and spoons for the room because I need to have oatmeal in the AM to keep my GI in good balance, you know what I mean. It was another troublesome communication with the front just to get 2 bowls with spoons. How can it be so difficult to get basic items for my comfort in a 5 star hotel? I am paying a premium to stay here; make me feel welcome, provide some basics that I need, I don't want to be calling room service for every little thing. I was very excited to stay at this hotel but I actually don't feel welcome here, more of an annoyance to the staff.

This was our second stay at Villa Saint Ange, and I'm disappointed to say it will definitely be our last. We stayed here a couple years ago on our honeymoon, and while we had a few small issues with the service, the gorgeous grounds, immaculate room, and great location merited a return stay. Unfortunately, our return trip was much worse than the first. First, the good: the hotel is still gorgeous, and the pool is still lovely. The location is great - a short walk will bring you right to Cours Mirabeau. The restaurant is newly overseen by Pierre Gagnaire, and is still nice (though honestly no better than under the previous chef). We had two main issues this trip: our room, and the lack of service recovery when we had an issue with it. Our room was located at the front of the hotel overlooking the street. It was very nicely appointed, but as we learned at about 5-6am every single morning, it has a glaring issue: noise. Each morning, a symphony of garbage trucks, delivery vehicles, and other service vehicles absolutely bombarded our room with noise. While any room facing the street is likely a bit noisy, our room in particular was RIGHT above the hotel's loading bay, meaning 5am deliveries to the restaurant were unacceptably loud. The many antique floor-to-ceiling windows in the room were beautiful, but absolutely worthless noise insulators. We mentioned this issue to the staff, who seemed unsurprised by the complaint, and also offered nothing more than a fairly insincere apology. That said, it's not the responsibility of a hotel's receptionist to resolve hotel layout problems - it's the responsibility of management/ownership. This is not the only review to mention this issue, which means management/ownership knows this is a problem and simply does not care. This is also not an inexpensive room - it's actually a Superior category room, and thus commands a price of nearly $1,000/night. My advice to the owner of this hotel: this room cannot be a guest room. The location is not acceptable for a bedroom, and charging this much money for such a substandard room is a bad look. Convert the room to a library, parlor, utility closet - anything but a bedroom. Other consistent, easily-remedied feedback in guest reviews (most notably, lack of coffee maker in the rooms) has been ignored by management, so this likely will be as well.

You wait one hour and a half between the first and the second, and there is very little food on your plate, so you are hungry throughout the day, having arrived at 1:00 and being lucky enough to leave at 4:00. The cooking is just average. The waiters are unpleasantly fussy.

Beautiful hotel with gorgeous gardens. Our room was very small but had many built in ledges and closets for storage. I think this is the first time in several weeks we were able to unpack. The only note on the room design I have is that the toilet is placed very close to the wall. It is so close it is difficult to access the toilet paper - we ended up putting the roll on top of the sink cabinet. There was plenty of lighting and 2 big windows. Also a private small terrace with privacy provided by trees and bushes. I also wonder about the hotel security- we were never asked to show identification when we picked up our key. There is no deadbolt lock on the door and no peephole. The bathroom sliding door has a very stiff hinge that if you lock it you may be stuck!! Great breakfast where we were served by smiling young attractive people-including Camilla, Silvan and Tuen. Hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the old town. The weather was such that we weren’t able to enjoy the pool or gardens. The WiFi was not good at all… a booster is needed. Also the TV reception was fuzzy at times.

High French Style Villa with gorgeous pool and hot tub. Good restaurant and breakfast. Very attentive staff. Hotel is well kept and clean. Great location; walkable to center of town and shops. Easy check in and out

The property is beautiful...but from there it goes downhill. Did not see or hear from a manager or anyone for 3 days other then the concierge when we checked in.. very nice. Pool beautiful... service non existent - had to track down flimsy towels - waited 30 minutes for service. The bar is in the restaurant and was told it closes when the last person finishes dinner..ok. Breakfast was good but no one cleared our table Room was nice but small Over all was executing so much more from such a visually stunning property
