The Hotel

We travel a lot to Sri Lanka as my teens like to surf. The hotel was the perfect place for us as a mature family. The beach club and restaurant were exactly what I like with yummy dishes and great loungers. My teens had the most amazing time waking up in the morning seeing the peak from their beds paddling in and out from the beach club. The hotel offered complimentary early morning yoga every morning at 8:00am which was perfect for me and every Thursday there is a sunset party which is so much fun. The staff is super friendly and the design of the place was simple but perfect. I will def come back.

My stay at this hotel was incredibly disappointing from start to finish. Upon arrival, one of the staff members who accompanied us to our room appeared intoxicated, with red eyes and a foul smell. Despite the high expectations set by Instagram and the hotel's reputation, the reality fell far short. The room, while aesthetically pleasing, lacked essential amenities one would expect from a 5-star hotel. There were no toothbrushes, hairdryers, or even basic kitchen appliances like a coffee machine or water heater. The air conditioning was inadequate, the TV was tiny, and there was a noticeable lack of room service or dining options. The staff's behavior was unprofessional and concerning. They lacked manners, dressed inappropriately, and displayed poor hygiene practices, including serving food with unclean hands nails are long and disgusting...the quality & dishes tasting terrible and often being served at the wrong temperature. The most alarming incident occurred when we returned to our room after being out for just an hour. We were surprised to find two staff members inside, one with cleaning equipment. To our shock, one of them was the same staff member who had appeared intoxicated on the first day of our arrival. His demeanor was visibly panicked and uneasy when we knocked on the door, insisting that we wait outside while they cleaned the room. I refused to comply and entered the room to check, prompting the staff member to hastily leave as if he was caught doing something wrong. It's important to note that my sisters and I had separate rooms, and mine was exceptionally small, easily cleanable within five minutes by one person. This situation raised serious concerns as it appeared there was something suspicious happening inside. Thankfully, my intuition about the place and the odd behavior of the staff compelled me to always carry my valuables with me whenever leaving the room. To add to the frustration, power cuts occurred frequently without any acknowledgment or apology from the hotel management. Additionally, encountering staff members unexpectedly entering our room raised serious safety concerns, especially given their suspicious behavior.

Una de las peores experiencias en un hotel. Es completamente falso que sea un establecimiento de 5 estrellas, es un engaño total. El ruido es constante todos los días: el hotel organiza fiestas extremadamente ruidosas y, además, el ruido de la calle se escucha continuamente. Cualquiera puede acceder al hotel desde la calle, subiendo por las escaleras, lo cual resulta incluso inseguro. La piscina es meramente decorativa y parece que cualquier persona externa al hotel puede utilizarla. En cuanto a la playa, no es como la describen: no se puede disfrutar ni nadar en ella, salvo que seas un surfista profesional. El personal, aunque amable, era poco profesional, dando la sensación de estar en un hostal y no en un hotel de lujo. Además, los propietarios pasaban la mayor parte del tiempo en el vestíbulo o el restaurante fumando y bebiendo, creando un ambiente muy poco acogedor, como si los huéspedes que pagamos por estar allí fuéramos una molestia. En resumen, una experiencia completamente decepcionante. El lugar parece diseñado únicamente para aparentar en fotos de Instagram, sin ofrecer la calidad que se espera de un hotel de 5 estrellas. Estábamos deseando irnos. Pésimo.
