Miramare Resort & Spa

From arrival to departure this was the best experience! Cases being taken to your room was not just a wow at the start, it was a sign of the standards set throughout the hotel for the entire week. The room (405) was lovely, not the biggest but certainly adequate for two people, but the biggest wow was drawing back the curtains on arrival for THAT view! The entire bay opened before you, and honestly you need to make the effort to wake early for the most breathtaking sunrises! When nature sets a standard like that, the hotel has to work hard to match it. This was achieved. Service was easily 5 stars, nothing was too much trouble at any time, reception staff were always on hand to help with anything they could. We really couldn’t find fault. Special mentions to Manolito and Natalia on the bar who made everyone feel welcome and were their own entertainment, hilariously funny with the guests, they made us laugh and feel special. The food was excellent, didn’t have a bad meal here (all inclusive plus), plenty of choice so definitely worth the money. My partner is vegetarian and I can’t eat cheese yet we both had plenty of options! The hotel is set on a hill, there are steps aplenty, but there are also elevators and ramps, and for those in need the staff will help with their golf buggies. As for Ag Nik itself, just beautiful. We can definitely recommend the 7.30 swim in the morning from To Votasalo beach cafe at the bay in front of the hotel, an incredible experience! The whole town is just lovely. We took the trip to Spinalonga which we booked locally online, a fascinating place. If we had to pick one thing to improve, the shower in our room was a little on the small side, that’s all we could suggest. The ultimate question, would we recommend and even visit again? Absolutely yes!! We loved it, thank you!

What a wonderfully beautiful and stunning hotel this is, views that can be seen from pretty much everywhere and that go on for miles. We stayed in a superior room with a balcony, which was fairly basic but had everything we needed. If you would like the use of the safe in the room, it will be an extra 30€ for a week. We only used the Aegeon pool, which was great. Considering we went towards the end of the school holidays in August, we never struggled to get sunbeds, even turning up at 10:00 after breakfast. I would recommend trying to get the metal framed beds as the wooded ones were not comfortable at all. The food was good, and I never struggled to find lovely food to eat. Grill station was always going with meat and fish and greek salad at all times! We would definitely recommend the Cretan night they run on a Wednesday, Crete musicians and dancers, cheese maker demonstrating and food cooked over coals on a bbq. This is extra even on all-inclusive and drinks are also an extra charge. We stayed on an all-inclusive deal that we booked with Tui. All the meals and food were amazing, but unfortunately the drinks package is not the best. Beer, wine and soft drinks are included but no cocktails or other spirits apart from Ouzo and Raki. We found out that if you book with Jet2holidays, you automatically get an upgraded package where other drinks are included, including some cocktails. Almyros beach to the right looking out at sea is possibly the best beach we've been to, crystal clear water, snorkelling was fantastic and one of our highlights as well as jet skiing! Miramare owns the first 100 yards of the beach, which is a bit quieter. They charge 15€ for 2 sunbeds, parasol and 2 bottles of water. Further down is only 10€ but busier. The lady who collects the money is fantastic, likes a chat and tells you exactly as it is, no beating about the bush! She does tell you at the very beginning that if you leave your beds to go back to the hotel for lunch, your stuff will be removed and your beds given to someone else. All staff from reception, bar, restaurant, cleaners and gardeners are all lovely and friendly and will always try to help where possible Transfer time from the airport to the hotel is around 2 hours by coach, not 50 minutes that Tui says. I would definitely recommend this hotel, it's fantastic and cannot wait to return!!

The front desk staff- you are always so kind and helpful and love chatting to you. Thank you to waiters that work hard and are extremely polite. We love you guys and thank you for wonderful memories. The accommodation is spotless- thank you cleaning staff and the hotel offers all we needed. We used the gym and it was excellent. We were HB and worked extremely well for our family with teenage daughters. See you again - we can’t wait to return!

We booked the hotel with the all-in formula. Very helpfull and friendly staff, at the reception, the lobby bar, the swimming pool bar and the buffet restaurant. The choices of drink are of good quality. The manager of the buffet restaurant led you kindly to a table and his team ask directly for the drinks. The buffet is of excellent quality with many choices and all day there are varieties. The room is cleaned every day and you receive new towels. As the hotel is located on a steep slope, maybe less suitable for older people, but there are elevators. Wifi is weak on some places, but overall a great hotel. Certainly highly recommandated.

We really had a wonderful 2 weeks. The views were spectacular. The hotel was kept immaculate and the gardens. Our room had a lovely view of the marina and had a shady terrace which was needed after a day in the hot sun. It was cleaned daily and teas and coffees replenished. The food was delicious,particularly the breakfasts.Desserts were lovely and such a large selection. Loved the top pool because it was breezy up there with great sea views but all the pools were nice. The beach to the right was a short walk away ( 10 mins) and sandy and very relaxing with the beautiful Mountains on view.There was a closer beach nearby with little bars around a short walk to the left. We loved the town,marina and the lake area with its lovely eating places. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and pleasant. Will definitely be returning.Not for people with mobility problems I would say. Thank you for an amazing holiday.

We have just stayed for 10 nights at the Miramare and what a fantastic time we had. We had been upgraded to a one bedroom suite which was a nice surprise and had the most amazing view over the sea and local beach. The hotel itself was lovely. Three pools to choose from but we loved the local beach which was a 5 min walk away. The staff were so friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was great, the assortment of food everyday was brilliant and nothing ran out, they were always refilling the trays quickly. The bar staff were great too, always happy and nice to chat too. The town of Agios Nikolaus is wonderful to go into in the evening. Loads of restaurants to choose from and lovely streets to wander down and many shops to look in. The lake is beautiful at night when it is all lit up. We found a small cafe/bar called Aroma Cafe which we went I most nights. Milo’s and Yianni (father and son) ran it and they were great fun and recommended restaurants to go to. All in all we loved Agios Nikolaus and will certainly go back soon!!! Highly recommend Crete!!
