Quick Hikes within a mile of the home, we have Shoemaker Nature Preserve. Five miles from our home is Chalet Nivale, Arc of Appalachia--shaded hollows, vertical cliffs, rare plants, carved out by two of Ohio's cleanest streams. Both are easier excellent hikes. Fort Hill is a hike through a mature forest to the top of the ridge where a 2000 yr-old mystery of the Hopewell culture awaits. Hike more intense Buzzard's Roost, or check out the Arc of Appalachia's site for more challenging hikes. Or simply stay at the cozy cabin; you're likely to see deer and wild turkeys!
